Glasgow Clyde College and News Scotland are proud to announce that the Scottish Student Journalism Awards 2020 will be held this year on May 20th 2020 at Barras Art and Design Glasgow.
The awards will be run in partnership with our headline sponsor, News Scotland, and in association with BBC Scotland.
We are also grateful to all our sponsors who are this year supporting the event, and making it possible: DC Thomson Media, the Scottish Newspaper Society, the Daily Record, Holyrood magazine and the NUJ.
We already have some of the most experienced journalists in Scotland signed up for this year’s judging panel. Watch this space for news on judges and our sponsors.
BBC Scotland have been instrumental in helping us to improve the awards for 2020 and will not only host the event, but will provide judges for four categories; Long and short broadcast pieces, Best Podcast and Mobile Journalism Story of the Year.
We are hugely grateful to every media organisation that is helping to ensure the SSJAs 2020 are the best yet.
The awards have run for the past nine years and give journalism students from Scottish colleges and universities a platform to showcase their work to industry professionals.
When the awards open in March we will be posting constant updates on our social media pages to keep you posted of developments every step of the way until the event on May 20th.
This website will also have information on how to apply for the awards with everything from rules and regulations to a downloadable application pack. We will update you with news on judges, shortlisted students and exciting announcements as we get closer to the big day.
Pictures of our venue are available on our website, as well as directions on how to find us, plus we are linked to Google Maps.
If you have any questions about the awards or on how to apply please feel free to contact us at Ssjawards2020@gmail.com.
Just be sure to read all our terms and conditions before sending your final submissions. Last year we had a record number of entries from colleges and universities across the country – and we hope to beat that this year.
Finally, a special thank you to former Glasgow Clyde College HND student Jake Beaton who not only created this site but has helped us every year to maintain and update it. Thank you Jake, from all of us.
We look forward to seeing you on May 20th! Good luck!
